History of Lahore

History of Lahore is thousands years old. Many people rules here such as Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and British. Lahore was names on the name of Hindu God son Lava and river Ravi was names at Hindu Goddess Durga. In early days of Mughals Lahore city was inside a wall. First Muslim ruler Sultan Mehmood Ghaznvi came here. Malik Ayaz was appointed by Mehmood Gaznvi to rebuild Lahore. Malik Ayaz Tomb is in Rang Mahal. Afther Ghaznvi many Muslim rulers came here and ruled. Some are Khiljis, Tuglaqs and Lodhis and Mughals. Lahore was at its peak in the times of Mughals. There were many building and gardens were built. Some of historical building in Lahore are Shahi Qila, Badshahi Masjid, Alamgiri Gate, Shalimar Garden, Chowburji, Bara Darri and some old bazaars. After Mughals Sikhs came and rules in the leadership of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. British defeated Sikhs and captured Lahore. Lahore was also the main source for Pakistan movement in the leadership of Quid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
